Following the incredible success of our inaugural festival, we’re thrilled to announce that Capital Plein Air Festival will return in 2026!
Our 2025 festival exceeded all expectations, bringing together over 100 talented artists from across Australia who transformed Canberra’s autumn landscape into their open-air studio. From the historic streets of Gundaroo to the majestic views at the National Arboretum, artists captured the capital’s unique beauty in every brushstroke.
The festival showcased:
• Award-winning workshops with international artist Leon Holmes and demonstrations by Australian master artist Warwick Fuller.
• Painting sessions at iconic locations across Canberra and surrounding regions
• Quick Draw Competition amid stunning autumn colors • Artist connections and community building
• Public art sales celebrating fresh, locally-created works
